Candles
The first burn
Candles should be left to burn until a complete melt pool has formed across the top of the container (approx 2-3 hours). Allow your candle to liquefy to the edge before extinguishing; this will help to prevent tunnelling of the candle.
Wick trimming
Wicks should be trimmed after every 3-4 hours of burning. Keeping wicks trimmed to 6mm (1/4 inch) and keeping the candle out of draughts will prevent smoking and excessive mushrooming. Avoid trimming your wicks too short; this will cause ineffective burning conditions.
Extinguishing candles
Ideally your candle should always be extinguished by dipping the wick into its own pool of liquid wax using a ‘wick dipper’. This will limit the amount of smoke emitted from your candle, and coating the wick with the wax in this way helps it to light more easily. Always allow your candle to cool before relighting.
Wick mushroming
We only use wicks that are 100% cotton. You will sometimes notice a ‘mushrooming’ of the wick; this is a natural characteristic of cotton wicks. To provide the strongest burn possible, we recommend you remove the black ‘mushroom’ before burning and periodically during the burning.
Spills
Soy wax is naturally biodegradable and is water soluble, so you only need to clean the item with hot soapy water and a cloth; or if it is on your clothing, put through the washing machine.
Appearance
As our luxury soy wax candles are all hand-poured they will never be identical. The top of your candle may appear to have a rough appearance after it has cooled from a burn. This is completely normal and will not affect how your candle burns.
General safety
-
Place your candle on heat-resistant surfaces away from flammable materials.
-
Keep out of reach of children, pets and draughts.
-
Always keep the wax pool free from foreign objects such as wick trimmings, wick particles and matches.
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
-
Never move your candle while the flame is burning, and wait until the soy wax has hardened before moving.

Melts
Melts are 'melted' in a burner - the same type that is used for burning aromatherapy oils.
If you have a pack of melts simply break off one square and place it into the top of your burner. If you are using a single melt, pop it out of the container before placing in the top of the burner.
Do not add water!
Use an unscented tea-light candle as the heat source, placed at the bottom of the oil burner.
The melt will keep its fragrance for many hours. When you are ready to discard it, allow the melt to set, then wipe out the burner with a paper towel.
